Notes - A George Morgan married a Susan Medford 21 March 1857 St. Andrews, Barbados, West Indies. There is much to suggest that this Susan Medford is the Susan we know as Edwards. Supporting evidence:
(i) marriage dates are prior to and close to the first born Sarah Elizabeth Morgan birth 21 January 1858;
(ii) They were living in Apes Hill Land, St. Andrew - the same location as where the children were born;
(iii) George Morgan's father is given as Benjamin Morgan;
(iv) Susan Medford could not read and probably could not write - she would be unable to confirm spelling.
Unanswered questions:
(i) George Morgan's occupation is given as a planter;
(ii) It appears that George Morgan can write and MUST be able to read as by 7 June 1861 he becomes a postman. Why did he not correct the spelling? Perhaps the spelling here is correct and the two baptism register entries for Sarah Elizabeth and Rebecca are incorrect spellings.
